Itinerary Change : Departure is still April 20th however...

All this work to get here in a few days: the second Sphinx to visit this year...

Named because of its shape, it's one of the highest points in Europe for peons (but not mountain climbers) 3,454m (11,332ft), though Klein Matterhorn is higher : it's not a record for Dave (that was 5600m in Bolivia, higher than anything in Europe) - but look at the view! It is unique.

The last part of the trip up is an elevator inside the mountain. These are not my pics... They are beautiful though!

Back to boring stuff:
So Lufthansa and Swiss Air surreptiously changed their fare structure so that K and S class tickets no longer accumulate Aeroplan miles. For this reason, I ditched the main (trans Atlantic) Lufthansa (LH) and Swiss (LX) flights and switched to US Airways for comparable cost... I wish I could get rid of the interconnects from Amsterdam but the penalties are too stiff, I doubt I will fly LH or LX much from now, I think it was a dirty trick they pulled and it makes little sense to the value equation since they save the cost of the miles without reducing the ticket price. US Airways doesn't get rave reviews, I have never flown them, it's on old 757 equipment and I have to go through US customs... Oh Lordy what I have I done... I guess I will be numb for the major part of it - so who cares how bad the inflight entertainment is?
The routing is now:
Home-Toronto(AC)-Montréal(AC)-Philadelphia(US)-Amsterdam(US)-Frankfurt(LH)-Zürich(LH)-Barcelona(LX)-Vienna(OS)-Salzburg(ÖBB Railjet)-Zürich(ÖBB Railjet)-Interlaken(SBB)-Wengen(BernerOberland/Wengernalp)-Grindelwald(Wengernalp)-Kleine Scheidegg(Jungfrau)-Jungfraujoch(Jungfrau)-Lauterbrünnen(Wengernalp)-Interlaken(BernerOberland)-Fribourg(SBB)-Bern(SBB)-Neuchâtel(SBB)-Zürich(SBB)-Frankfurt(LH)-Amsterdam(LH)-Philadelphia(US)-Montréal(US)-Ottawa(AC)-Home(AC).
BernerOberland/Jungfrau/Wengernalp = Private Railways
ÖBB/SBB = Austrian/Swiss Government Railways
AC/LH/LX/OS/US = IATA Airline Codes
Some of them, indeed they are pass thru stops: Frankfurt, Philly, Ottawa and Toronto - the rest we should be stopping at. Lausanne or Luzern would be nice to throw in but not sure how I can. Will have to see what we can do... And how much energy I have left... See you on the weekend for the opening of Cirque du Soleil's new show in the Old Port of Montréal: Amalūna.
